The video game console is a device that connects to a television to control one or more video games. The first console, the Ataribox, was introduced in 1976. The first commercially successful console was the Magnavox Odyssey, which was released in 1972. In 2006, the PlayStation 3 became the fastest selling console in history. Today, there are many consoles available, with the Nintendo Wii U being the newest.
