When liver function is compromised, the exact cause can ceaselessly be difficult to decide. Supporting the liver, without reference to the cause, is very important to keep it working properly.
Liver beef up
Administering SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine), which is found in Denamarin, has been shown to markedly increase liver levels of glutathione,1,2 the most important compound for liver health formed when SAMe is metabolized. The SAMe in Denamarin has also been shown to help give protection to liver cells from cell death3,4 and may help cell repair and regeneration.5
Denamarin also helps beef up your pet’s liver through the administration of silybin. Silybin is an active a part of an extract from milk thistle, referred to as silymarin, and has been shown to beef up liver function by helping handle a healthy oxidative balance.
The new chewable tablets of Denamarin allow dogs to receive SAMe and silybin in a tasty treat, getting rid of the want to “pill” your dog day by day. Additionally, the chewable tablets allow for quicker uptake of the SAMe and no more variability between dogs when in comparison to enteric-coated tablets.
While best known for supporting the liver in dogs and cats Denamarin also has a place in supporting brain health. Research is having a look into dog aging and associated decreases in levels of S-Adenosylmethionine (SAMe) in cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds the brain. Denamarin provides SAMe in a stabilized form to help with brain health and act as a neuroprotector. Denamarin also provides a bioavailable form of silybin which supports oxidative balance.
Denamarin has no known serious side-effects. Your veterinarian can evaluate the length of beef up needed through follow-up examinations, blood work, and/or other laboratory work. At home, watch for improvements in your pet’s attitude, appetite, and activity level. Denamarin is only to be had from your veterinarian. Please consult your veterinarian to see if Denamarin is right for your pet.
Denamarin is to be had as enteric-coated tablets for dogs and cats and in tasty chewable tablets for dogs. Advanced technology in the exclusive NMXSS75® S-Adenosylmethionine found in the chewable formulations provides stability getting rid of the need for enteric coating or foil-on-foil blistering. The chewable tablets for dogs are tasty, single size and scored for simple administration.
Administration of Denamarin Tablets
For optimal absorption, tablets will have to be given on an empty stomach, a minimum of one hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine. For those owners who have difficulty administering tablets to their pets, Denamarin tablet(s) is also disguised in a small bite of food. Studies have shown that, in many cases, tablets or capsules given as a “dry swallow” do not pass into the stomach in cats but may grow to be lodged in the esophagus. It is suggested for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach.6,7 Denamarin for Cats and Small Dogs tablets are perfect for cats as a result of their small size. If the pet is to receive a couple of tablet day by day, the total number of tablets is also divided between morning and evening for ease of administration. As an example, a day by day administration of three tablets could be divided into two tablets in the morning and one tablet in the evening.
Denamarin can be utilized together with Marin® to provide additional silybin levels and some great benefits of vitamin E and zinc supplementation. If Marin is used together with Denamarin, the two products will have to be administered 12 hours apart for best response.
